Wild Mushroom Certification

Learn to identify selected wild mushrooms safely, and meet state requirements for commercial wild-mushroom sales in Alabama or Georgia.

Programs are state-approved and administered by MushroomTek: a self-paced digital course, an online exam, and a five-year certification upon passing. Allen Carroll of Fungi Farm wrote Alabama's first wild-mushroom certification. He studied at Auburn University and is a former president of the Alabama Mushroom Society. Fungi Farm helped originate the curriculum; MushroomTek runs enrollment, exams, and certificates for Alabama and Georgia.

Each program includes:

  • A full-color digital manual emailed after purchase
  • A 100-question online exam (one hour; 80% passing score; one attempt per purchase)
  • A five-year certification with ID number and printable PDF certificate

Study on your own schedule; most learners finish in about four weeks. Renew when the five-year term ends. Enroll at the MushroomTek Wild Mushroom Certifications shop.

For hands-on field practice, join a Fungi Farm tour or guided foray, or book a cultivation workshop. Field days support learning; they do not replace certification.
